Default Speeding fine calculator

I was reading a piece about a guy being fined £740 for doing 41mph in a 30mph zone. it cost him 175% of his salary.

He put this calculator up so you can see how much it will cost you these days.

I've only had one speeding ticket in all my years of driving and that was in the lorry up around Beattock on the A74 back in 1974. I think the fine was 40 quid then.

I've got a calculator on the dashboard, it's called a speedometer. 40 in a 30? hope he's learnt a lesson.

superficially plausible, but actually wrong?

Nope, not wrong The doohickey in the dashboard calculates the speed of the car and displays it for the driver to read. If it calculates that you are within the speed limit then there is no chance of being fined for speeding.

What it actually was was sarcastic (using irony in order to mock or convey contempt.)

Get off with you-- Nobody ever calls it a calculator. Never.!!! it's a speedometer. Go ask the manufacturers.

The calculator is the trip recorder according to driving style.

Irony.==Humorous effect. You know, as a joke.

( Those lacking a sense of humour might not see it though.-- )

PS. Not sarcastic but simply Factual. -----------( though some might not even recognise a Fact even if it bit them. Lol )

PPS. The Sat-Nav can calculate if you are within the speed limit by comparing your speed with that of the limit posted for that road. You are saying the speedometer can do that. It can't.

PPS Just a few facts to mull over.---b

By the way-----HAPPY and PROSPEROUS NEW year to you.

If it's the last then I suppose the lesson learnt is only to speed where there are no cameras.---
