Electrical nightmare ?
Can anyone help a battling aussie with his rover75 se conisseur KV6 problem ?.if anyone cand offer advice on the following i would be eternally grateful .As follows.
about 7 months ago the battery died whilst out and about a jump start was given and i think the ecu decided to pass away !,it went to a workshop where it was advised that they knew rovers and had a t4 ,this now brings us to the present day,! the car has been returned with the following. the instrument panel has been swapped with an english one with MPH . the car starts in gear !. reversing sensors dont work. head unit showing words "ERR". doors dont lock when car is started. lower fog lights dont work. rear window heater dont work. head unit only displays GPS no trip computer ,fuel consumption ,etc. As we have strict gun laws here i cannot shoot myself,so i am pleading with any member who can offer me some guidance so i can get my beloved rover back!!. Thank you ,Thank you. poiterbb. |

You said you suspected the original ECU had been damaged by an attempted jump start, did the workshop replace the ECU? If so I suspect they stuck one in without virginising it then reconfiguring using the settings from the original.
As Martin suggested above, Brian (marinabrian) is the man to speak to. |

sounds a lot like they have replaced all of the ecu's and security bits with items from a scrapped manual car....
If you needed a new ECU for the engine alone then you would need a virginised one for them to install it with T4 and AFAIK there are only 3 folks who can do that and they are all on this forum.... The common approach when an ecu is screwed is to replace the coded bits en-mass and it looks like this has been done but the appropriate ZCS coding and matching is missing... Take it back and get them to put all your original bity back in and send the engine ECU to Marinabrian by post for sorting...

As mentioned, Marinabrian is the guy who knows and can re program all the bits and gas extensive knowledge re this stuff.
Unfortunately he is in the UK so posting ecu etc is the only way. You may be able to buy a complete set of modules out of one car, a Ecu,bcu, ews and instrument cluster. You will still need to program your keys into the bcu but can do that using the Toaf program which can switch options on and off in your car. Instrument cluster can be taken apart and change the back panel to your km one from the old unit. As mentioned, i would get all the old items back and work forward from there. Once refitted, post the issues up on here and the good learned people on this forum will help you!!! |

TOAF is (free) downloadable software that was developed by some Polish guys that does a lot of what a T4 does but there are some banana skins in it where if you click the wrong thing it will cause problems!

Do you have your original ecu, immobiliser, key chip etc. It would be far easier to put it all back to how it was and have marinabrian sort the problem with your original ecu.
