Xtron - any good?
Hi guys,
Just wondering whether the Xtron sat nav units are worth buying? I have a Pioneer in our ZTT, which is excellent - but pricey. Now thinking of getting a unit for my MGF - a single din, folding screen affair. Pioneer no longer appear to make these, and the now obsolete units still retail for over 1000 quid... Xtron do their D710G for around 260-280 notes. Difference in price = difference in paying for one brand against another, or a question of "you get what you pay for"? I suspect a little of both! Thanks for your thoughts |

Xtron (and all Chinese units generally) biggest failings are in sound quality, and to a lower extend, UI,.

Poor quality amplifier? I shall check, but it should have pre-outs to enable me use an external amp which might get around that particular problem?

Hi Rob
Have a read of this thread http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=87846 Seems a few members having issues with Xtrons and the after sales service is not exactly up to radio guys standards. Defo get what you pay for in my humble opinion. Richard |

Using an external amp will improve things, but your still using the headunits DAC (i.e. translating the bytes into voltage levels) which still wont be as good as more "quality" brands. |

Thanks chaps - I am really pleased with the Pioneer we have in our ZTT as I said. Sounds quality is excellent too. I think that if I got a unit from a different manufacturer and it was significantly inferior I'd probably kick myself.
So, off again to the Bay of E to see whether a slightly cheaper Pioneer crops up! Cheers |

Id say its no worse than the chinese WinCE DD sean sells. Sound quality is about the same, screen is the same, build quality is if anything better. Is it a match for a Kenwood/Alpine/Pioneer? Not on your life.
