Did 100 + miles today and the first proper run out since Trikey and Kevl worked their magic and saved her from the brink....Again. Safe to say we are back in the love part of the love/hate relationship we presently have

There are lots of things I like about the R40, and lots I loath......the ZT daily is a tool nothing more than that, and I don't like the car.

Coupled with the fact it has more clutch judder than a Marina with a goosed gearbox mounting, thanks to the general fall in standards of "genuine" parts quality since the transition from Neovia Logistics ownership of XPart to that of Leacy Classics.

In terms of the powerplant for the 416, it's a brand new block, pistons and liners, on a 11000 mile crank and rods, with new mains, and a solid cam converted VVC head from a never overheated 11,000 mile ZR160 which had been rolled.

A Freelander flywheel and clutch, and the 11,000 mile Torsen B PG1 planted on the end.

So no, not an MG6 engine, though I'd have used one of those if I could have found one at a sensible price

Vroooooooooom tish ! no more smelly diesel for me

Ahh, the devils fuel. That which gets all your groceries and anything else that you and everyone else buys from the shops, or is delivered by amazon and the like. Terrible stuff isn’t it. Let’s imagine how long you would last without it at the moment. I would not be to bad, I have two Allotments. Still drawing goodies from them even now.

I prefer to listen to the oddball Christmas stuff like The Pogues' Fairytale of New York, Tom Waits Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis, or The Killers' Don't Shoot Me Santa Claus.
Of course, when i'm driving home for Christmas I listen to Chris Rea's Driving Home for Christmas!

Well not strictly my car but Mrs Noc's 75. Yesterday I thought I'd replace the thermostat and O ring as it was leaking coolant. Not the quickest of jobs, and once finished refilled the coolant and let the car warm up on idle. Lo and behold after a few minutes the coolant pipe started dripping as pressure built up in the system.

Stripped it all back out last night and this morning got hold of a genuine LR O ring and compared the size to the viton O ring I had fitted. The viton one was slightly undersize, so that explained the leak.

Fitted the LR one and all is now well. Just to be on the safe side I got the old GhettoTech cold pressure tester out and checked the system was coolant tight before fitting the engine mount and other gubbins back on.
