They are fitted with 3M tape, holds them on solid.

I've ran my diesel for a couple years now with no bonnet cover and also my v6 once and never noticed any difference in sound, although my cars aren't exactly quiet

Remember that the under bonnet cover is also there to stop heat from the engine not only as a sound proof but to stop damage to the bonnet's paint work.

Yes, to catch fire and make a mess, wonderful.

There is far better sound proofing that you can buy which doesn't moult.

Plus having owned two of these vehicles now, they are the only ones that have ever had under bonnet covers fitted.
I have always sound proofed myself.
