Default Please Help! Rover 75 V6 - EP Limp home mode.

Hi All,

My Rover 75 V6 has gone into gearbox EP - Limp home mode.

It's been fine. The traction control fail message come on about a week ago but was otherwise ok. Then the other day, on starting it went straight into EP mode. The cooling fan is also at max and I noticed the rear demister won't come on.

I've checked the Plenums which are ok. I also found a thread that suggested it may be fuse 34 blown which again is ok.

I'm reluctant to dump the car as I've had it from new so if anyone has had a similar issue and can suggest a fix, I'd be eternally grateful.

Regards,

Terry.

They. Try disconnecting the battery for an hour... this offer helps reset many small communications issues...

I suspect there to be a problem on the CANBUS wiring between the ECM and the Jatco EATCU.

This is based upon the traction control issues you are also experiencing.

So the wiring which is twisted pair, and originates on pin 27 and 57 of the engine management plug, and pins 33 and 12 on the Jatco EATCU.

The colour scheme is yellow with brown tracer, and yellow with black tracer.

Easy enough to check with a multimeter

Have fun

Brian

Thanks Brian. I presume the ECU is in the passenger side plenum? Where is the gearbox end? In it in the engine bay or under the car. Are you suspecting a broken wire?

Many thanks for the help.

Terry

I've replied in detail via PM Terry, but yes I suspect a broken wire
