Default Ph cack!!

I think I am going to get done. Driving through a 30 zone this afternoon, following a large van, I saw the camera van last minute and was doing 37, hit the brake and got to 32 when the van in front was passed the camera van, but I think I was too late.
Hopefully I will get the offer of a speed awareness course as it was between 35 and 42 mph

I always thought that the bit which estimates (important distinction) road speed is called an odometer...

I say estimates as all the ones I have come across over report speed by between 4 and 10% to protect the manufacturer from claims of responsibility for speeding fines when allowing for various tyre sizes, tyre wear, tyre pressure etc...

So to be recorded at a speed of 45, the odo in the car could have been displaying 50 mph... so no sympathy there... speeding on a motorway is almost required to keep up with tragic flows today, but in town.... not forgivable...

Back in 1966,i was pulling away from traffic lights when i noticed a car trying to overtake me. Being young and foolish "he's not passing me " raced him through town, only to find out it was a police car. My fine was £5. About 10% of my wage.

Irony.==Humorous effect. You know, as a joke.

( Those lacking a sense of humour might not see it though.-- )

PS. Not sarcastic but simply Factual. -----------( though some might not even recognise a Fact even if it bit them. Lol )

PPS. The Sat-Nav can calculate if you are within the speed limit by comparing your speed with that of the limit posted for that road. You are saying the speedometer can do that. It can't.

PPS Just a few facts to mull over.---b

By the way-----HAPPY and PROSPEROUS NEW year to you.
How it does it and what you call it are separate things. The only wrong thing so far is for you to state that the speedometer or IPK is not a calculator. No-one said that the speedometer compares your speed to the limit. It leaves that as a task for the driver .

Next thing you'll be telling me that a smartphone is not a computer, And before we know it the Moon is not made of green cheese and the Earth is flat. Where will it end!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it's just my perception that the post from Planenut was sarcastic. However being sarcastic doesn't preclude what is said from actually being fact.
