I think the Devil smiley was purely an indication they were being cheeky or naughty. In my eyes a self observation they were being cheeky or tongue in cheek.
Nothing sinister I hope.

Three pages of number plate based "hatred"

It should be remembered if the statistics peddled at the comprehensive school I attended in the early 1980's are to be believed, that one in four "bat for the other side"

People are often frightened of what they don't understand, and react in wholly inappropriate ways.

Personally speaking I have no problem whatsoever how people conduct their personal lives behind their own front doors, and have customers who are as camp as they come.....does this bother me not one jot

Everyone's personal sexuality is exactly that.....personal, and that should be respected irrespective of your own views.

Perhaps a Volvo would be better

I have a memory of visiting one of those friends on New Years Eve 1991 in a Hospice, he was dying of that disgusting disease we all hear about but not many see. I held him that night and I never saw him alive again. I've been lucky to share the other side of the status quo of life, I understand it better than most.
The gentle person that ran the place has left us now, on his birthday I go to his resting place to remember him, he's alone forever in his grave, and I cared about him alive as I do now he's gone. I have many memories of Toga Parties and crazy nights full of joy full of `Gay` people. Happy times.
A thoughtful tribute to your friend. Those were hard times for the gay community when treatment was experimental and still in its early days. It's World AIDS day Thursday Ist December, in remembrance of the masses who lost their lives in the fight against this unforgiving disease.

Well clearly the rain has forced everyone indoors onto the key boards, so I think this is a suitable point for this thread (at the OPs request) to be closed.
