I've not heard about this before Stuart, do you mean the dimples between the wheel nuts ? Were these not on British spec Crowns ?

Indeed why they added these to the crowns for the Japanese market is any ones guess.

How odd ?? Can't see any reason that such a small change as this would be added just for a different market

I wouldn't mind betting they found a truck load of dimpled alloys behind the bike sheds at Cowley and thought '...how are we going to get rid of these...?'

That's a very classy colour combination, it would look awesome with the scratches removed and properly cleaned and polished.

I'm continually impressed by how well R75 interiors wear their mileage - that leather looks barely sat on. (And I don't mean it lacks trouser marks!)

What happens to copart cars that don't sell - do people get a second chance, or are they just scrapped?

Depends who they belong to I guess. Copart sell more than just salvage, they sell repossessions, police seizures, main dealer part exchanges etc.

As this ones unrecorded as damaged I'd imagin it hasn't some from an insurance company.

Its not only dimples, they are also slightly narrower wheels about half an inch narrower if i recall.

The car is a very nice distinctive combination, hope someone saves it.

Anyone thinking of going for it? Wonder what 'smokey exhaust' means? Engine trouble?

Reference the wheels, someone mentioned they were slightly narrower. I read somewhere that the width of the wheelbase in Japan is part of some regulation and the dimples probably were so that they were visually different to the people fitting the wheels to other cars at the factory?
Or maybe I dreampt it!
