Just read this thread for the first time. What an amazing read. Well done for saving it and good luck with its future!

Hi Paul,

A friend of mine has just bought a 52 plate Club SE CDTI Tourer, when I looked at it the other day it has a full tray fitting in Dark Grey including the centre disc and a Rover Warning Triangle in the tailgate..

Tom.

Not updated for a while as thankfully the car has been running well. However, I did end up finally replacing the gearbox solenoid with a new item (approx. £50), when my previous repair failed - see thread in tech section.

Hope to bring the car to POL this year, although still not got round to repairing the dented N/S sill yet , but at least this year it's got an MOT...!!!

With POL fast approaching (and X702UOK not being ready last year), I decided last week that I really had to get on with some long overdue jobs.

Unfortunately, a quick look underneath showed that one of the original, odd size self-levelling dampers had decided it no longer wanted to hold oil , so both shocks and the rear springs have now been replaced with standard units, to keep the car roadworthy - thank you Oxfordblue

The EGR, inlet manifold and associated pipework has been removed and cleaned out, as it was all choked with thick black gunge whilst a number of the underbonnet rubber fuel pipes have been replaced with newer items as they were starting to show signs of cracking.

A replacement N/S/F wing has been fitted (original had a couple of dents) and today I removed the front bumper to cut & polish the headlights with the buffer.

Still a few more odds & ends to sort, plus lots of cleaning, but should be good by weekend after next. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Birmingham

Well, after what must be maybe 300-400 hours work (I kid you not !) since the Tourer was towed out the scrapyard, I'm finally fixing the small odds & ends that are just annoying, rather than critical

I've resigned myself to the fact that the N/S sill will still be dented for POL, but the Tourer has now had a long overdue oil & filter change with a flush, new fuel & pollen filters (air was quite clean, so left) along with a top up of the auto transmission fluid using the correct '402' type. Temperature DOES make a big difference to the level, I'm not sure why, but at the correct temp of 35'C, the box took on an extra 300ml more than when it was hot.

Today saw two new seals and locking rings (all BMW) fitted to the fuel tank, as one had been missing completely whilst the other was sitting down around the base of the sender....

Looking at the car, the amount of hours spent on it is completely disproportional, but if I add up all the time spent visiting scrapyards, removing & reconditioning parts, body repairs, mechanical repairs, polishing & general cleaning, I reckon the figures mentioned above must be fairly close.

So if it breaks down on the M5 next Friday, I'll be 'doing a John Cleese' on the hard shoulder...

will make sure i have a few pics left on the memory card for this little beauty. Love cars with proper history, not stamps in a book, but a proper history and a good story.

well done for the hard work and effort.
