Default Rust pictures - an appeal

I will be updating the buyers guide very shortly.

I would appreciate if people have images of rust on our cars, with the oldest being 22 years old now it happens.

Good clear pictures, along with locations showing any other damage.

Sills, B pillar, etc etc

Couple of my rear offside sills pre Mr Hobbs working his magic and some of the repair at the time the worst he'd seen but i understand that there's been worse since.

Tell tale signs are brown flecks in the underseal means the rott has worked it's way to the outside :-(

I removed my front mud flaps at the weekend as I could see a trace of rust, this will need attention shortly.

My tourer is pretty much the same, but it’s down at my Mam’s, so can’t take a photo tonight.

I think the reason that happens is because no one seems to bother pulling the inner cover away from the bottom by the sill. That area always gets a large accumulation of dirt behind it. Easy enough to clean out then Waxoyle it. Both of mine have received the treatment.

Tom might be having a bit of a head scratch with mine. The front and rear portions should be fine from the Waxoyl sessions - it's the middle on the o/s that's got a scab patch.

I'm sorry I haven't any photos but my facelift 2004 tourer had some minor rust along the bottom of the tailgate which was visible when the tailgate was up. To repair it the body shop took off the plastic panel that covers the lower part of the outside of the panel. This uncovered a hole through the tailgate behind the plastic just down from the top. Not something you can look out for but be aware it may be there!

However, when I got the car back, the sides of the tailgate are now painted and polished like the outside of the body instead of the usual poor rough dull finish so it's now better than new!
