Improving low rev pulling power 75 CDTi
I recently traded my 01 CDT saloon (116) for a 04 CDTi tourer (131) and whilst it has more power above 2000 RPM it is pretty lackluster under that. The Maf has been replaced a couple of days ago but not improved things. I had considered a RoverRon plug and play mod but my insurance company want's an extra £120 pa if I do. How can I improve low down power with out incurring extra insurance premiums, or chopping bits off the car. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I loved my CDT but it is proving hard to love this replacement.

Disabling the EGR valve by clamping the vacuum pipe helped on improve low end power on mine. I have also fitted Ron's synergy box and a BMC air filter. Is still a bit flat below 2k, but much better than it was.

Unplug the maf just to make sure it is not duff
Don't assume there is not the possibilty that the new one is also duff Also it might be worth checking yours against another 131 CDTi and maybe even veryifying it is a 131 |

Thanks for your suggestions. It is definitely a 131 and the MAF is ok. Tried crimping the hose to the ERG and also disconnected the hose into the filter box in case of a breathing fault. Still no improvement. Finally replaced the air filter (standard FAM) and that has made a slight improvement. I think it is the surge of power over 2000rpm making it feel a bit sluggish below that. I will have to learn to be a bit less heavy on the loud pedal I guess.

Phone around re Insurance and Ron's boxes.
Some don't charge at all others only a small premium difference, some of course won't insure you! That sounds a lot extra!! |

If you were used to a CDTi, there must still be a fault on your CDTi as they normally have bags more power under 2000 revs than the old 115.
Another avenue of power loss to check is the inter cooler outlet pipe. Yours might be the later type inter cooler housing in which case there are no O rings, but it's worth checking. Very difficult to see though without dismantling or get yourself a very bendy mirror. See this thread; http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=9643
