Default Boot lock not opening via fob

Hi guys
Got a minor irritation on my project MGZT 260 facelift. The boot lock won't engage when I press the fob but it does when I used the switch in the car. All other doors open etc via the fob but not the boot. I do know I have to keep pressing the unlock fob but nothing is happening
Is there an easy way of looking or fixing this or is this something I'm going to have to live with?
Thnaks

A new battery in the FOB is an easy and inexpensive test. Do they take 2? Not sure. Anyway, the battery may be strong enough for the quick transmit for door locks, but not the long press for the trunk (boot).

Cheers,
Glenn

Never working since I bought the car in November, the previous owner said it did but it's never worked for me.

Odd, it may be that the BCU has been replaced at some point by the previous owner and it has been replaced with an earlier one that doesn't support boot release. The ones that do end in 1521 and 1522 part number wise. Or it has been on a T4 and has somehow had the ZCS code for boot release erased.

ooo I wouldn't know that.
If i remove the internal boot cover would I see the part number without removing the lock?

The BCU lives above the glovebox.

To unlock the boot with the fob you need to press and hold the 'unlock' button for a couple of seconds - a normal press just unlocks the driver's door, a second press unlocks the rest of the doors.
