TV head unit
I am thinking of replacing the factory cd player with a tv/satnav head unit, does anyone know what is required in addition to the head unit itself or aditional wiring, it will primarily be theTV, I prefer to use my own satnav that I keep charged at work
Or can someone recommend a good aftermarket one, bearing in mind that the factory unit wil be re fitted if my next 75 does not have one, or if it is a superior aftermarket model. I have read things like "the TV only works when the car is stationary" and " the system is not digital" Thanks

Are you thinking of a OEM TV installation? The reason I ask is it's a lot of work to do, a lot of parts to buy for just a TV.
You'd be better off getting a aftermarket system like this. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DOUBLE-DIN-CAR...mZ180347075933 or a single DIN unit like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1011-7-LCD-IN-...mZ120415609514 Much easier and cheaper.

I believe this is an upgraded version of the one my mate has and he replaced the mapping software with Tom Tom.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ONE-DIN-7-CAR-...mZ260404567687 The benefit of his one is he also added a wireless card and can sync with his home PC from outside just as if it was a PDA.

Thanks Steven, I have looked into it further and OEM does seem a lot of agro for outdated tech. I like the double DIN, but MP3 and SD card support is quite essential. I am also unsure about the units being analogue, and will have to find out if the dash will acommodate aftermarket double DIN units. I imagine OEM double DIN must not take up much room due to most of the components being nstalled elswhere in the cabin and boot. I am sure I read a thread on here from a member who has done this with a black ash facia, will try and find it again. I am only going to do it once so need to make the right choice, thanks for pointing the items out.

I bought one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Freeview-D...3A2%7C294%3A50 very cheap option just £40.00 & it connects directly into the DVD player I have installed via an AV socket. Screens front & back give the viewers (not the driver mind!!) the option to watch TV or DVD at the same time on either screen.
The reception & quality is excellent (of course it will depend on Freeview reception in your area).

I have decied against the handbrake connecting watch when you are stationary penalty point and fine risking front player malarky. Have decided to buy 2 replacement headrests with built in dvd players, with SD card and MP3 suport, and a freeview tuner. Anyone who wants to watch TV or dvd can sit in the back (except the driver). Thinking of adapting a facia to fit my widescren satnav into the front
