Default Do I need an Orange clip?

I opened up the petrol tank to examine the filter. This is a picture of the filter. It is different from all the other pictures I have seen. Does this need a clip or is it OK. The car is 2002 KV6 connoisseur

I might be mistaken, but that looks like the drivers side? In which case that’s the pump which would explain why it looks different. The filters on the passenger side

Very many thanks for your reply. However, I have discovered that my car has the earlier filter fitted. It doesn't need the orange clip. It seems that although the filters fitted were changed in 2001 many survived on models delivered in 2002. I seem to be one of the lucky ones.

The early filters can also be identified by the finger loops on top. Apparently the later filters didn't have these loops. That saves dismantling the unit. The picture is from the passenger side.

For anyone left wondering, this is the top of the later filter module.

This version requires the FOC (Fabled Orange Clip).

So, if yours is like this, check that you have one fitted or you could easily finish up stuck out in the sticks (and that ain't very pleasant).
