cant find a thread, brush change
I've seen a thread about how to change the brushes in the coolant fan motor. It had pictures of taking the back plate off but I cant find the thread.
It is the back plate removal and the torx screw removal I am interested in. Do you know the thread I need, link if you do please macafee2 |

There's also a HowTo with instructions from French_Mike somewhere around. I'll add it here if I locate it.

Ian,
Send a PM to Arctic and he'll provide you with his excellent pictorial guide. Simon

Yes, seems like that one's been 'lost' in the system. I found a 2015 post by French_Mike saying he couldn't find it. It was uploaded to the HowTo forum in 2009. Maybe a victim of the PhotoBucket ransom? TC |

For what it is worth, I've just changed the brushes in my 3-speed fan on the KV6. (job failed though as I found the fan was cracked when putting it back on the car, so I bought the replacement Revotec fan from Jules).
When removing the fan motor, I had t undo the 3 torx screws. All were initially seized, but penetrating oil and a quick soak saw 2 of them undo with care. The 3rd one wouldn't move, and the torx bit chewed the head. So I got a cutting disc in my Minidrill (like a Dremel), and carefully cut a slot in the head. A large screwdriver soon shifted it.
