really useful guide - thanks
Each time a bulb goes I come back to this thread and each time I say I couldn't have done it without the photos. The Haynes guide versions lack clarity, they show nothing about the orientation of the bulb itself. Useless in comparison.

Here's the latest photo help. It gives some important notes about the retainer clip, which can be a source of major problems.

I have a face lift 75 & also had to change both headlight bulbs but I found it better, if longer, & also less swearing involved by taking the bumper off, removing the headlamps & fit the bulbs.took about one & a half hours. Long but easier on the temper!

Took a photo of T Cut post so I have it when the invevitable happens on a lonely unlit road in the ice and snow.
All cars now are the same, changed one on the SEAT and it was hell. On a Mondeo I did take the whole unit out. JohnnyBG |

You could pay the extra for Halfords to do it while you stand inside in the warm looking at fancy subwoofers and anodised alloy bits, then a couple of weeks later realise they didn't secure the hatch properly and you've been spraying the air hose and back of the headlight with mud and water.
The Freelander hatch is the same if you need one...

Only troublesome lights on our cars are the Xenons with the burners on the back.
Cap off, wiggle the plug off then unhook the clip. Easy. |

Sorry to resurrect this, got an 04 75, I've followed everything on this thread and reached the point where I've got the bulb literally in my hand, but I can't disconnect it. There's no spring clip btw, I guess the MK2 has a different design...but still a really bad one!
Any ideas please? |
