You don't need to learn a foreign language, just shout and gesticulate wildly.

They go for English as it's the easiest language in the world to learn.--

French--Verb. TO GO.---Aller.

English.---------------French.
I go. ------------------Je vais
You go. ---------------Tu vas.
He goes. --------------Il/Elle va.

We go. ----------------Nous allons.
You go. ----------------Vous allez.
They go. ---------------Ils/Elles vont.

See why English is easy.-------

Living over here I've had to learn that lot. Not easy I can tell you.---

We had a holiday in France a few years ago. I was surprised how much of my school French came back to me.

The song "one elephant fell down on my mother" is a classic of primary school French lessons

I was way above that level, "O" level French . . . . which I failed dismally but some of it obviously stuck.

Wi "la plume de ma t'aunt et dans le jardain"
From my memory(very suspect) means "my aunt's pen is in the garden" very useful if your aunt has lost her pen in France

You think that's bad, I did German as well and the only phrase that stuck in my mind (God knows why) is: "Das spiegelei ist in der pfanne" . . . . the fried egg is in the pan. You struggle to get that into an everyday conversation.

Very handy too if you just happen to be drinking some wine in the glorious sunshine and decide you want to write a letter.------

Schoolboy French, eh

And I bet you ended up with lots of poisseux bonbons, limonade gazeuse and chunks of Barbe a Papa.--
