No, it's just that I've had a few Mercs in my day, love the older models.
1) 1985 w123 200 sedan 2) 1980 w116 350se 3) 1990 w124 300te 4) 1990 w126 560sel (The Beast!) 5) 1989 w124 300ce 6) 1990 w124 300e 24v (The Rocket!) Sadly it's hard to get a good example now, unless you're willing to spend 'silly money'... A pic of my last one.... Cheers, Bill.

nice looking Merc Bill, yes as you say good ones are hard to come by these days, The E220 is up for sale and might be going to Ireland, Its a very nice one. the 350sl used to belong to my wifes grandmother from new then sat in storage for about 15 years, its had a full restoration now but didnt need too much its only done 30,000 miles and is now like new, quite a few people want to buy it but no matter how much was offered this one will be staying. Regards, Gary

My mum had a 1978 350SL, and a nuts 1983 W123 230E saloon with a W126 560SEC V8 in it!!!!
The SL was mint, and the 123 went like stink, but wasn't the tidyest example... It feels so good to be RED!!!

Sorry, can't resist...... Found an old picture of my 560sel. Was lovely but developed an un-economical repair sadly so had to sell it on to someone with very deep pockets.....
Rumour had it that Madonna used to use it when in the UK back in the '90s... This I was told, whether true or not.... And just thought I would let everyone know, it's chucking it down here.... Snow! that is...

nice looking Merc mangoman, yes I could se madona in that. cookiemonster, swmbo sl has been promised to mrcedes world at brooklands when we die, they want it for there museum, its done 30,000 miles and used to belong to her gran who was in her 80s, it sat in a barn for 20 years and needed only a bit of tidying but a mate has a bodyshop and loves old cars so we for a full body resto, now she only uses it on very nice days. Mind you we did get soaked on our way to the start of the London Brighton run last year, A1 top down and nowhere to stop. doh Ericb, thanks for your comment, the wheels are aparently standard on the 1.8 non turbo, the one good thing with them is they are so easy to clean as you can put your hand through to get to the back as well.

After the Merc came a Stag Mk1 Manual, and then this
Concours show winner Mk2 Auto. Just sold it before Christmas. Got *** all for it considering, so we kept it's extensive trophy cabinet
