IF the wiring and its connecting plug were fine, could there be a break in the wiring in that area, is the plug completely secure tight in the switch no movement.

Maybe try removing the plug connection and use some switch cleaner on the connection, only use switch cleaner as it should leave no residue.
Just bolted back. No wires were repaired or replaced. Been out this morning and removed the glovebox, I can reach the switch better. Switch and plug are tight.
I'll go and get some switch cleaner and follow your advice.

Many thanks for the advice.

I agree that this is a great place for generous helpful folk. Trikey recently helped me out with some bits that just aren't available where I live.

There's nothing more frustrating than in intermittent electrical fault!
Try wiggling the wires with the switch in place and the engine running and see if the problem recurs.
That may help narrow it down.

Inertia switch have been on cars for many years. They cut the fuel supply pump in the case of a hard knock ie accident.
They may disable other systems too but fuel supply is the main one.

Tried this, but nothing happened. The engine kept running. Disconnected the switch, cleaned it up with switch cleaner. Reassembled it all and started up. Gave the switch a wiggle. Seems to be ok at the moment.
