Default Power VIS woes

Need some help with my new vis motor: i bought a reconditioned power vis from a reputable seller from ebay. Took the old one out and new one went in fine. Went out for a spin but felt no difference, even at 5,000 rpm. I came back home, took new one out and put a dab of waterbased paint on the peg to make sure it was inside the arm when fitted, which it is. Any thoughts what i can do next? My car has never had a working power vis so i dont know what it feels like when working (slight difference or blinding obvious). The balance is fine, as tested by Jules in Colwyn Bay on a T4 a few months ago

Dave (Stocktake) is indeed the man you need, especially if you need VIS motors repaired as he also upgrades them at the same time.

You should feel a burst of power at around 3,000rpm when the Power VIS kicks in.

Having said that, have you checked the movement of the arm that controls all the butterflies (the arm that the Power VIS peg sits in) ?

If it feels all sloppy, it could be broken & not operating the butterflies (although rattling noises are usually heard when this happens).

I would also check to make sure that the arm is not excessively stiff as this could make the Power VIS override its teeth inside.

Probably not going to PoL this year due to work commitments but I'm trying to get a last minute swap, but the arm seems free enough; I can slide it in & out with ease, and had to pull it all the way out for the motor to fit into the arm. I cant hear a rattle either, so I'm stumped!!

Need to check the wires to the viz.i happen to of just recently fitted Stocktakes upgraded viz and you can feel the train action around 3000rpm.

That's a good sign I presume you mean you had to pull the brown arm across to the drivers side so the peg locates. That tells you the peg and therefore the vis is in the correct rest position.

Simon,

The power VIS actuator responds to rapid movement of the accelerator pedal. If you accelerated normally and smoothly, you won't feel a thing. However if you 'floor' the pedal the car should pick up its skirt and sprint for the finishing line!

It's the balance flap which operates at that engine speed Mike.
