Today I decided to tackle the lacquer peel that has been irritating me every time I see the front bumper

That is just a couple of coats of lacquer after I scraped and sanded some of the big scabs off, next week I'll be wet sanding it flat and giving it a good couple of passes with the polisher

I fitted my new side repeaters and gave the car a good clean and waxed the paintwork. Cleaned all the leather in gave it a hoover out. Looks really good.

Lowered the coilovers a bit.... washed and cleaned her, oh and replaced my front discs that had warped.
All good again.

Changed the oil and filter too, Highly Reccommend Gulf Racing Esther Synthetic 5-40 oil.
My noisy tappet from warm starts has been cured buy using this oil.

I do not think it is merely the placebo effect. I do this to every used car I buy for at least ten years now. There are always improvements. Be they nice silent valve gear ( tappets ) or sharper throttle response and acceleration, better fuel consumption or reaching top speed rather more quickly. Sometimes all of the above particularly with a car which has not been given the level of TLC required despite assurances from the vendor that it was given a full service a couple months ago.

Best of all to my way of thinking, the fresh 10-40 semi-synthetic remains clean and clear on the Dipstick for many many more miles after this treatment than with regular oil change routines. The latter usually shows black oil on the dipstick soon after the oil change contaminated by the muck and sludge left in the engine.[/QUOTE]

Diesel is one of the best cleaning "agents" available, I regularly fill buckets of diesel to soak components in at work, it really loosens any surface gunge/carbon.

DONE: HAD A CRAZY IDEA THAT I HAD TO GET RID OF MY MG ZTT DUE TO NOT HAVING A DRIVE AND HAVING TO PARK ON A BUSY STREET WITH A VIEW TO GETTING ANOTHER ONE AT A LATER DATE WHEN I HAVE A DRIVE.

ENDED UP REALISING IT REALLY ISN'T PRACTICAL NOT HAVING A CAR TO GET AROUND AND I NOW OWN A VW EOS 3.2 V6 INDIVIDUAL (1 OF 20 REMAINING IN THE UK WITH THAT ENGINE AND TRIM COMBO) EVEN THOUGH I STILL LIVE ON A BUSY ROAD WITHOUT A DRIVE
