I think I'll try wrapping a bit of dental floss around it and seeing if it will drop off
You're right - it would have taken very little time, but now there have been three members of the NHS involved - my GP, the eye specialist today and the lady in Medical Illustration who took the photos; next visit will be there'll be an anaesthetist to give me a local injection, the doctor who will actually wield the scalpel, no doubt one or more nurses - all for 10mm of wayward skin !!

  • Shining really bright lights into my eye and telling me not to blink!
  • Going through my entire life's medical history
  • Sending me to Medical Photography unit to have a close up photo of the offending item
  • ..... and finally - I'm on the waiting list for an op. - but it might be some time

There was me thinking it would be a quick examination, the Doctor would then produce a scalpel (or a pair of tin snips) and bingo - sorted
Oh well - life goes on

What you doing after Christmas

When I worked in A&E, I often covered minor injuries and dressings. All we had was a junior doctor and myself who would do the work in minor procedures similar to yours. As this is a family forum, I won’t mention the guys coming in with injuries caused by the Hoover or bottles stuck inside their arris Rod, I’d be careful not to tie the tag off from your eye lid with dental floss, but I am not in your shoes How frustrating you have to wait and wait, but that is how it is.
