got car back saturday happy to be driving my 75 and not the rover216 that i've been useing the last week. yes thats how long it took them to get parts and do it.

told them it should have been done under the sale of goods act and should not have to pay the £50. they said i should pay as having a new cultch made the car better then when i got it. so i was only paying for better met under the act.

but for good will they would pay £25 leaving me to pay £25. which left me with a big smile. having a new clutch for a totat of £25 + £3.50 for gearbox oil.:

Lol....nice argument they put up! So had they put in a new clutch prior to sale they would have expected to be able to sell the car for more? Nah! No such thing as paying for betterment under SOGA - something either works or it doesn't - especially in the case of clutches! But never mind, you remain on good terms with them and did not have to pay £50.00 so a result nonetheless.

Sounds like they will be replacing the gearbox oil during the job.
Probably not necessary at your mileage but they are covering themselves.

Make sure it has been replaced though if they charge you for it.
ie evidence that the drain plug has been disturbed.

work colleague's clutch pedal dropped to the floor the other day R75, expected one all mighty bill for a clutch. It appeared though that a clip on the pedal had broken/disintergrated, allowing the pedal to floor as if the clutch had gone west.
Anyone heard of this happening before?.
BTW is there any sort of preventative maintenance to prevent clutch failure i.e. check seals etc.
