I thought that about the flexi pipe too but the ex Rover master technician whose been working in Rover/BL dealers for 45years told me that and I've no reason to disbelieve him

Ok question... can you buy those large metal cable ties that have an adjuster on which you alter with a screwdriver? I'm thinking of wrapping one around the flexi pipe and tightening it up internally

Yes, they are called jubilee clips/ties and can be bought from any reputable DIY store. Very large ones may require a bit more hunting, perhaps some online retailers may have them available...? I'm sure someone will post info of a source for them soon.

if you get desparate you can always get two or more smaller ones and join them to make one larger.
searched on ebay on "jubilee clip..."? |
