Batteries - Correct Size needed ? Help Required !
Hello,
Following an earlier post today (and many thanks for the replies as the diagnosis was spot on), I bought a new battery. However, it is 2-3ins shorter than the original and therefore am having problems securing it in place. The retaining strap is very difficult to adjust - particularly at the place of the threaded bolt. I sepcifically asked for a battery for a Rover 75 CDT but..... Have I bought the wrong battery I am wondering i.e should the replacement be the same dimensions ? I would be grateful for any reply - this seemingly 10 minute job has already taken 1 hour !! Regards

The replacement should be exactly the same size so I'd take it back and ask for the correct one. Chances are you've been given one for a Rover 45.

The battery you have been supplied cannot possibly be a big enough AMP hourage.
Unipart outlets and Motor factors have the correct size. Jon the diesel requires minimum 75 AMP Hour.

Yep might do it some good, like a complete shutdown on a PC.
What shop is it out of interest Jon? So long as you have the radio code:lol:

It's a local garage who also have a car parts shop (Preston, Lancashire) - they are in the goodgarage scheme (www.goodgaragescheme.com) where they have excelent feedback. They also serviced the 75 recently and did an excellent job - they have all 75 service parts in stock e.g filters
I'm sure it was a genuine mistake so will return tomorrow

For a while my local Rover agent (now defunct) couldn't supply a big enough one.! Biggest they had was 63 AMP (still not enough for the CDT)
