Sort of. The red light will flash if one of the switches is held on.

Would have thought so, sorry can't really remember. I've fitted many to Swedish owners' keys, but only after trial fitting them first - and returning some to eBay sellers.

Anyway, happy to replace the case. Can I actually move my blade to one of those, and save taking out a 2nd mortgage with Timpson's to get another one cut?
Red light - yes would have thought so, sorry can't really remember. I've fitted many to Swedish owners' keys, but only after trial fitting them first - (and returning some to eBay sellers)

Yes, quite easy, Brian's tea method works well: prepare two cups with boiling water, one for yourself and one for the part with the blade. Make your tea, immerse the key blade part in the other cup. By the time you've finished the blade and holder will usually pull out of the case. Sometimes if they've been glued it's more difficult, I then usually cut the softer plastic case away from the harder plastic blade holder.

Good luck

Most welcome, hope you find the fobs fit better than the ones you’ve got. A local owner was quite satisfied with the fit - she came up to my place to get her VIS motors checked, I noticed her keyfob was holed, she explained she had been to a locksmith in Stockholm who gave her a price to change the fob of £220, she declined being a pensioner it was too much, asked me how much I wanted, said £4 should cover it - had to repeat the price as she thought she mis-heard !

Regards

All done, and incredibly easy - thanks

PS and no, I didn't forget the little transponder

Heh - first outing today, and the buttons failed again (so that's in the new case). Looks like it is the little circuit board after all

Sorry to hear this - was hoping you were fixed. As before, take the boards out of the case and try them by pressing the switches with your finger nails. If still dead then get a couple of secondhand boards and reprogramme them with Toaf and use Brian's "how to" - five minute job.

Regards

I've used secondhand remote boards and reprogrammed them with Toaf using MarinaBrian's hack (or Trevor's). No need to remove anything and all done in five minutes.

Regards

Ps. The EWS is just for the transponder side of things, the remote board talks to the BCU (body control unit)
Where does one find this hack/how-to ?

Yeah, thanks, I did try that last time, and it seems to work fine when out of the case... but, on the other hand, when it fails in the case, and I give the fob a sharp tap on the roof of the car, it tends to work again, suggesting a board fault I'd say?

I've never used TOAF - sounds scary
