Here Brian, this wouldn't be the code would it? Came with my car...

And who's this Julian?

Oh - apparently it means my car was built on January 23rd, 687. I guess that explains why the suspension is falling apart.

Oh blood… oh no sorry, the forum will see that as a naughty word, won’t it. There was me keeping that card safe for the last 10 years, when I don’ even HAVE locking wheel nuts.

OK, look, life can be depressing, so I’m always up for a laugh, and I’m thinking of having a go at this myself using your TOAF procedure, as suggested by Vitesse. I just realised that my girlfriend, who works for the largest metal recycling company in Ireland, has loads of contacts in the scrapper trade, so might be able to get me a key or two – if not, I’ll try the chap you mentioned.

I’ve never used TOAF, but hopefully if I follow your procedure to the letter I won’t get myself in trouble. Must just check that cable I have in the garage, but I think it’s the ELM type, which won’t work…?

I'll go and dig it out now... if it's no good, maybe you can recommend a cheapo one for me

Okily dokily, not looking good, is it... and even if it were suitable, the case doesn't seem to open to short the 2 requisite pins...

Yes.

By-the-way, no stranger to the Julian calendar here, used it for many years in the navy (radio), we'd number days of the year as it was a short form of expressing the date and even our American cousins wouldn't get confused.

Regards

Cheers Steve - I'll hear tomorrow whether she's been successful or not! If not, I'll give you a shout - much appreciated

OK… so I tried to follow Brian’s procedure, but sadly didn’t get very far. And now no Brian

First I soldered pins 7&8 together, and got TOAF connected straight away.

Unfortunately, however, when I click the BCU button in TOAF, it tells me the BCU isn't present… anybody know what to do now?

Try a different version of toaf. I think the second of the three versions does the keys.

Thanks Alan... -43 is the one that's supposed to do keys, but trouble is, both versions say the BCU isn't present.

I don't have any BCU malfunctions, as far as I know - everything in the car seems to work...
