It's persisting it down here now - looks like another day lazing about the house.
Oh well, somebody has to

Hi Rich. Sorry to hear you got the days the wrong way round .

Rain has now stopped and been replaced with dull, overcast, gusty and quite chilly.

Take care.

Andy.

G'day everyone else - cool, grey and a touch of drizzle in the air - the North Yorkshire Riviera is sadly lacking some sun this year.
Hi Rod and Angela

I am okay thanks for asking. Jessica has had a UTI from Cystitis and she is now on the mend feeling better. I am going to wait until she is 100% recovered, before we go away to the coast or to the bush camping. Everywhere is deserted and we thought we would get away before the tourists arrive. The coast is a 9-12 hour drive depending on the road.

Tsavo West National Game reserve is about 4-5 hours drive or if we go to the Masai Mara, it’s about 7 hours drive. We would take our tent and camp. Because of health and safety in the game reserves, anyone camping must hire 2 armed rangers for protection.

I don’t mind paying for them in case the wild animals come to visit to eat us or we get raided by poachers. Last year, the government here introduced a new law allowing landowners and rangers to use deadly force to protect the wildlife, in particular from robbers looking for ivory.

I think you would like being close to animals. The Masai Mara is 900 square miles big and there is plenty to see. At night we cook over a fire and once we are in the tent, we zip up the door and we listen out. We have got used to identifying the sounds of the lion, elephant and hyena. It is rare they come close to the tent. As a precaution, I park the 4x4 next to the tent with the doors unlocked We have learned from other people’s mistakes. Don’t sleep with the tent door open no matter how hot it is and don’t keep food in the tent. If you can think of any other rules, do let me know

We hope your both well, stay safe.

And then I'll hold you in my dreams

There's a few areas round our way where armed bodyguards wouldn't go amiss . The problem with them is if you left your vehicle's doors open for a quick getaway - the vehicle would be gone by the time you needed it. A better idea would be to fence in the appropriate areas - and then let the lions, elephants and hyenas in - and a few cheetahs for variety

Cool

What a change in the weather. Turned bloomin’ chilly. Lots of grey clouds, waiting for the wet stuff.
