Who would joke about the FOC? It fixes the single most common cause of non-starting petrol engines. It is the permanent cure for FFS.

If you want to learn more enter FFS or FOC in the Advanced Search system and read it all up.

Petrol Engined cars - In tank fuel filter separates and fuel pressure drops - car won't start

Fit the 'FOC' and this prevents the filter coming apart - simples

It's no joke and i'd recommend checking it's been fitted

Nope! No joke. This happened to mine just after I got her. Stumped the local garage. If not for this site I don't know waht would have happened. If yours is petrol get this done ASAP. Part available from Rimmers and costs very little.
Best to do it when tank nearly empty.

Cheers.

Only happens with late 2002-on I think. Before then, it was a different filter unit that couldn't separate. Garages have raked in thousands, probably hundreds of thousands from 75/ZT owners who suffered FFS. The garages simply worked by trial and error and the punter paid. Xpart sold thousands of fuel pumps that weren't needed and would never be needed. All for a 50p clip. They're £6 now of course.

Orange clips - or at least the need for one.
This is a general thanks to the forum to those who contributed to the diagnosis of this problem. After 25K of trouble free motoring (in the last 12 months) the V6 did not fire on the 3rd turn of the starter as usual....Dang!
Look in forum...read some posts...find filter.... top has rotated about 20 degrees...correct alignment...starts first time..thanks again.

Has anyone tried elsewhere like:-
Euro Car Parts
'Our Les' SMC Trading- pm or email
ECP (Sandy Beds) Tel:- 01767 682100/900
Best of British Rover Tel:-0121 5265506
Fram Filters (Google for contact)
Halfords (though doubt it but may be able to order in)
Brown & Gammon (may be worth a try) Tel:- 01462 490049
Ebay Of course ! (other than oil, I have bought every single O/E servicing item needed since buying the car, often a while before actually needed.

Wish members would mention source, price & contact details when posting up info. on repairs, servicing etc.

Cant believe that Xpart price for a paper filter.
