Last night Rav, the night sky was clear. The temp plummeted and it felt really cold. I practiced different cam settings around the camp fire and where we all sat down to eat. I don’t know how the photos are going to come out, as I didn’t use flash. A nephew insisted on stringing up a hammock and sleeping there all night. Fortunately for him, the lions moved on, but leopard and Hyena can be just as bad. At 1 a.m I had to go out of the tent for a pee.

It’s at that point you shine a torch into the bushes. If a Lion is there watching, the light of the torch picks up their retinas and these can be clearly seen as red or brown eyes lit up in the bushes. There weren’t any, so it was okay to stay out for the pee. We had Hyenas circle the camp, but they kept away from the tents. Once back in the tent, I got into my sleeping bag, pulled another over the top and eventually managed to get off to sleep. The trick is to zip the tent all the way closed, as it seems to deters predators. Leaving a tent open is asking for trouble.

No light pollution at all Rav...... thank you for asking

You wouldn't have got me camping round where lions, leopards and hyenas were, not without a rifle and a man keeping watch anyway.

When i was a lad camping out,we used to take turns on guard. I don't know why as the only wild animals were the sheep.

Don't forget my Hyena as well Andy, did you know that they eat there prey while it is still alive? Unlike the Lion which has the good manners's and decency to ensure it's prey is dead first.
I'm full of intelligent and wisely information
