They deleted the undertray in later models but having seen the difference the undertray made between my Mk 1 and Mk 2, I would definitely have one. My new "old" car is twenty years old next month but the lower engine bay and ancillary units are pristine. My Mk 2 was six years younger but was showing surface corrosion all over the underside prior to my ownership and subsequent rustproofing.

In my opinion you do, especially if you use the Rover during the winter. I’ve often noticed (felt) compacted snow rubbing against the undertray. Perhaps your roads are better plowed than ours but sometimes driving through a ploughed wall of snow is unavoidable and you can never be quite sure what else is in there.

Regards

Rimmers lists the undertray either with or without holes. The one without holes is much cheaper. Could be they are from a batch that never finished production before MGR went under.

The cheaper one on Rimmers (380P1) looks the same as the ones on eBay but with a heat shield added. The more expensive one on Rimmers (380)looks thicker and better built.

I've no idea why the cheaper one on Rimmers has no holes - it would be very tricky to drill holes in the right positions.

Will do.

No reply yet (usually a bad sign).

They replied the other day and asked "What is the nature of your enquiry?" (I'd already asked if they supplied undertrays for the Rover 75). So I asked again 'Do you sell undertrays for Rover 75 cars?' but I've heard nothing more. They're obviously not interested.

The undertrays were supplied to Rover by a manufacturer in Lancashire. They advertised (not very well) leftover stock on ebay a couple of years back. I bought a couple and have since had it confirmed by them that there are no more left.

I cannot comment on what Rimmers are suppliying.

Could be that Rimmers bought the balance.
FWIW: they also sell the proper Dzus-like fixing bolts.
Too bad Rover never fitted them with a retainer so they
wouldn't come off the undertray.
