Hi Wes. Sorry to hear that you are still having health issues. I have been lucky in life health wise with nothing major or life threatening to smite me yet. Had a couple of scares that had the potential to be something serious but all was ok in the final analysis. However I have had the company of Emma and I opted for banding. I found it very painful for a few days afterwards and I'm not convinced that it was worth it as any improvement was marginal to nonexistent. That said I was probably a mild case unlike my brother who first tried banding and later went for surgery and wished in hindsight that he had opted for surgery from the off.

Have you ever had antibiotics while suffering your yet to be diagnosed pain? I ask because I had need to be given a course of it a couple of months back and it fixed the problem it was given for but it might have fixed something else too. I had acquired pain in the head when coughing, sneezing or clearing my throat. The brain felt bruised and the slight pressure put on it by the activities mentioned would trigger the pain. My head became a bit fuzzy too and I eventually began to struggle with balance when walking. I was and still am undergoing investigation for it, my head has been scanned and I've met with a neurologist but to date the cause remains to be determined. But quite unexpectedly and without me noticing immediately the pain in the head seems to have subsided after the antibiotics and my balance has improved too. My head is still a little fuzzy and there has been the odd day when I've thought that maybe the relief is temporary but serendipity has intervened to give me some hope.

Banding yes I've had that procedure done twice, and now they want to do surgery. Something tells me there maybe a link to this pelvic/perineal/testicle/leg pain I suffer, all to do with the Pudendal nerve; which carries pain from hemorrhoids I understand. This means I am now seeing the bum doctor as well as the blooming ball doctor, my wife is in hysterics at this point.

They diagnosed me with bilateral neuropathic testicle pain/chronic orchialgia, along with sciatica, but the fact the right orchiectomy got rid of my original right side pain must indicate the answer somewhere. The recent surgery back in March has caused this new pain, something to do with the genitofemoral nerve along the inguinal canal, they call it genitofemoral neuralgia, hopefully they can do something about it; if it doesn't get any better on its own.

But! they still have to tackle the left side pain, what the hell are they going to do about my left side; how can a man be in such an awful situation?

I told the doctors not so long ago, if they list all this pain that I suffer, they would go running to the hills. Testicle scrotal pain, sciatic pain, trigeminal neuralgia, and migraine headaches with aura. How the hell can anyone manage life when coping with pain like this everyday, it stops one from living, life gets put on hold, everyday is a battle and doing normal everyday tasks is so difficult; the pain is often debilitating and I'm out of action a lot of the time.

Obviously I put on a brave face and hide it from others, but as I'm getting older its becoming harder and harder to do, something has to give; it cant stay like this surely.

If I didn't make fun of it all I reckon I would go mad, but it is obviously affecting me; I just keep praying for a light at the end of the tunnel...

Good morning Wes and welcome to the day

Re: Haemorrhoids

If you’re getting symptoms it’s best to ask your GP you to refer to a friendly Proctologist and take it from there. Hopefully you won’t post up photos of them on the forum in case people are having breakfast and so on.

I sympathise with you as it not very comfortable for you and the neither is the recovery after the op, you will have to be brave.

Take care

Sadly I'm still having a rough time of it, still in terrible pain, lots of ups and downs. I had my third surgery March this year, the docs went back in to remove a cord like structure, some nerves, blood vessels etc. I'm now six months post op and getting back to normal, the surgery has helped a little, but has caused some other weird pains; so gotta go back to see what they can do.

To cut a very long story short... Loosing my right one has got rid of my original right side pain, this is super brilliant news, but now I seem to have this other pain going on, which must be a side effect from the previous surgeries, I have what seems to be some nerve pain trigger from the inguinal region.

The downside to all of this is... I'm still suffering pain on my left side (the left nut), there's been no change there, so that's both sides of the scrotal region and groin, and pain down both legs.

Then to make matters even worse, it looks like I'm going to need a hemorrhoidectomy, I could may well be suffering from Pudendal Neuralgia, the PN nerve is being compressed in some way.

So guys, if you don't mind me asking, don't be shy... but has anyone here had their piles sorted, a hemorrhoidectomy?

Has anyone got any advice?
I'm sorry to hear that you have health issues. How are you now?
My father-in-law had a surgical hemorrhoidectomy about two years ago. This was a major operation under a general anaesthetic. He needed to take more than a week off work afterward and experienced pain that he managed with the help of painkillers which I ordered from a partner healthcare pharmacy. Fortunately, no complications and he is doing fine now.
As far as I know, this is the most effective treatment for hemorrhoids, and I hope for your quick recovery.

Experiencing testicle pain can be concerning, and it's crucial to seek medical advice promptly. I'd recommend consulting a healthcare professional to determine the cause and appropriate treatment for your specific situation. In the meantime, if your healthcare provider suggests over-the-counter pain relievers, you might find them at local pharmacies. They often have a range of options to help manage pain and discomfort.

Hi Phil, how are you my friend, hope you are on the mend now?

I'm nearly 10 months on since my last surgery, and the recovery has been up and down, I've had some very strange pains; but thankfully the recovery pain now seems to be settling.

Thankfully I seem to be better off than what I was six months ago with regards to my right side, but since the surgery this has left me with a new trigger point at the inguinal area, this is what I understand they call 'surgery induced'. They are now investigating to see what's going on.

They are also sending me to London to see a very good specialist, I am so looking forward to this, so I am very thankful they are helping me; although the waiting period is taking forever.

Thank you Eugene, I'm still in two minds whether to go for the Hem surgery. They say many of us suffer from hemorrhoids and can live with them, and many will opt for surgery at some point; at present I'm still sitting on the fence.

18 years with this pain buddy, been there and got the t-shirt; it's been a very long journey.

A happy new year Wes,

Thank you for getting back and for the update in regards to your health.

My apologies for my late reply. Just before Christmas I had food poisoning with severe diarrhoea and passed out on the toilet with difficulty in breathing and chest pains. Jessica had to video me on the floor for ambulance control. She said my face was white as a sheet and I was very cold with slurred speech.

The ambulance arrived within 20 minutes and the crew did an ECG and said the heart was in abnormal rhythm in heart block and I was admitted into resus for 12 hours before being transferred into the cardiac unit. The heart rate was in the low 30’s so the docs suggested a pacemaker. I was found to be dehydrated.

A few days later the docs went on strike and I was seen by a consultant cardiologist who said my bed was needed and I didn’t need a pacemaker as the heart rate had improved and settled, I was discharged. He did his best to reassure me. He said lots of people are walking around with their heart rates in the low 30’s or if they have palpitations they need not worry about it. I got the feeling if I had asked…… am I dying, he would have told me not to worry about it.

3 junior doctors said I needed the pacemaker and they were overruled by the consultant.

I am happy I don’t need a pacemaker yet. Whilst I was in hospital, they found I had rectal bleeding and that I was suffering from an iron deficiency anaemia. I was referred for an urgent colonoscopy.

2 months ago at a hospital in London, I had a leg bypass for a blockage and a Right inguinal hernia repair, both open operations done at the same time, which left me with a right sided painful testicle which was found to be inflamed from the operation. I get pain relief from wearing a Jock strap! I wonder what sort of specialist you are seeing in London?

In July, Jessica fell in a car park after a club meet and broke her hip. She had to wait in hospital for 2 nights before a surgeon was free to carry out a Total Hip Replacement. Like Bob, once she was home, she was moved into a hospital bed with physio follow up etc, She was on anti-clotting injections for 28 days which I administered.

The cardiologist said I am fit to fly and we are back on track again getting fit and keeping active.

Looking forward to a better year, positive thoughts

Hi Phil, a happy new year to you both.

Make sure you take care of yourself buddy, take things nice and easy and don't over do it.

My father had heart disease and nursed himself along for many years, his heart had an abdominal rhythm and had an output of just 5%, the docs couldn't understand how my father was still alive.

We managed to get him to stay in hospital, the doctors and nurses were marvellous, he was in for two months and they managed to get his heart output up to 20%, which still isn't ideal; but much better than the worrying 5%.

Sadly his heart was too damaged to have surgery, there was no chance of a pacemaker, my father had left it too long. They reckon that my father had several heart attacks over the years, but he would have ignored them, he really didn't like hospitals, he would avoid them at all costs.

Regarding your leg bypass, inguinal hernia repair and right testicle pain. The ilioinguinal nerve can get strapped or damaged during inguinal hernia surgery Phil, this can then cause testicle pain. They first thought I had a inguinal hernia, but turns out I didn't; instead I have a hiatus hernia.

I'm glad Jessica is getting better Phil.

My latest news... my ultrasound scan and MRI scan that I had just before Christmas came back normal, which is odd. This new inguinal pain is extremely painful, I would have thought the MRI would have shown something???

January is a very busy month for me it seems, so many blooming appointments...
Pain clinic appointment.
Dentist appointment.
ENT (ears nose and throat) appointment.
Proctologist appointment.
Then another pain clinic appointment.

... and I'm still waiting for the London appointment.

As for my left side, I guess it's copy and paste and hope for the best, I just want to be fixed once and for all, surely that is not to much to ask?
