Default Front under tray removal on CDT question ?

Lo all, despite being on my second ZT and having done several oil changes, its my first undertray :xmas-smiley-031:

I was about to change the oil in my usual axle stands and two jacks Mr paranoid safety fashion but it actually looks quite difficult to get at some of the myriad of securing bolts/clips.

Is it quite easy with just a few inches extra off the ground and do folk normally remove the clips with the car on or near to the ground. Any tips re hidden or difficult clips/bolts ?

Cheers

Mas

Hoping you have a reasonable sized jack!! lift on the front central tow loop which sticks out through the undertray about 2 or 3 inches from the front edge!! - you have seen me use this before!!

Place the axle stands under the subframe arms at the rear just behind the rear edge of the U/tray - NOT the flat long tear drop plates just behind it!!

Remove the jack and its quite easy to reach everything!! the 4 quick release fasteners at the front are not retained in the tray and will drop into your hand!1 - I usualy remove those first and refit them last!! But hey each to their own!!

HTH??

With the car securely blocked I support the centre of the tray on the trolley jack, undo the bolts and then lower it down on the jack. Use the jack to lift it back into position as well - anything for an easier life. :xmas-smiley-013:

As Andy says, only the four around the front apron will drop out into your hand. The remaining eight should have retaining washers fitted on the upper side of the tray to prevent them dropping out.

Providing you have the OEM fittings, they require only one quarter of a turn to release. Choose your screwdriver tip carefully to avoid damaging the heads. None of them should be hidden.

When refitting lubricate with something waterproof such as Waxoyl or grease.

Simon.
