Default Door handle surround thingy

How do you remove these **** things? I mean the oval bit of chromed plastic which surrounds the interior door pull. My driver’s door one just fell out soon after I bought the car, and its little catches are all broken off so I can’t figure out how it should have been snapped in.

I want to use one from the back door, but it doesn't just seem to pull out – do you have to simultaneously slide it forward a la BMW or anything?

Thanks…

You have to remove the door card - the rings have tabs that go through into the handle (the break when they come off!) and they are glued in as well.

You can glue it back in, but I did that and it looks ****. Gotta fix it at some point!

Hiya..... Use Silicone sealant on the flat part of the surround that meets the interior handle flat parts... Adheres excellently and if ever you need to remove it again, just peel the silicone away.... Simples...

Take out the centre screw and gentley slide flat screwdriver round front middle edge and the back middle edge you will find some lugs prise softly once released they can be taken off or threaded through the door panel if removing it.

I broken one can be melted back into place with a soldering iron or hot blade

Thanks for all the help folks

Sorry for being thick, but do I understand correctly about removing the whole unit – you just take that screw out and it comes away?

What happens to the linkage to the door opening mechanism? Does it just unclip from that or something?

First take screw out from door panel unclip the two locating lugs if door panel is to be removed start a bottom and pop the clips from bottom of door panel working you way up and round the edge once you have enough room you should be able to feed the door handle through so when you finaly pull the door panel off it does not brake the chrome surround, or you can unclup the door handle from the cable first.
