Default My ZT has died

Over the last week or so my car has been revving high when it was idling which i thought was a faulty icv but now i'm wondering if it could of been an air leak as i've just been out in it and when i got home i heard a noise which sounded like air was being released from somewhere but when i popped the bonnet there was steam bellowing out from either side of the engine and now all the coolant is all over the drive. Could this be head gasket failure?

Could be thermostat failure. But coolant leaking from anywhere under pressure would do that. Not nescessarily hgf.

More probably thermostat casing split . HGF is on the last thing to consider in coolant problems with a KV6. Have you had the engine cover off ??

Doubt & hope it's not HGF - pretty rare on the KV6.

Check under the oil filler cap for mayo, likewise the dipstick & coolant res.

If they're all ok, then take the accoustic cover off & look into the V of the engine. I suspect it's the thermostat housing thats gone. Or a coolant pipe.

Could a cracked thermostat housing cause an air leak though as my revs were nearly up at 2000 rpm?

No, that could be a separate issue.

It is under the inlet manifold, but if you remove the cover, you should be able to see it with a torch.

I have got to go out in a bit but I'll see if I can get a pic of mine later unless someone beats me to it.
