May I suggest that either Commodore or Biggles start a new thread including a list for this item. Others can add their names as and when. It will entail one or either managing the list otherwise it just won't work. Take my word, I have experience

Good point. I'll need to have a go at the iBook first to see if I can make a workable Rover Mac out of it.

Don't want to be a killjoy but this is just a flat piece of plastic (isn't it)
so it also needs mounting at the bottom some how for stability and what does a double din (DD) unit actually use for support etc I am not up to speed on current ICE techniques am I missing the point i.e do you have to find a separate way to actually mount the DD unit in the big hole then just use this as a finisher? Any pointers to a DD idiots guide on the web mucho appreciated |

You are right - AFAIC if this guy makes a Rover 75-specific one for us, then it would need to have the inner edge to anchor the mounting cage to, like a single DIN adapter would have.

I am sure that Brian will do a group buy for us
What I'll do is buy one in, modify it and send it back to him for him to make a 75/ZT specific version. A bit of phaff - especially as we'd be looking at shipping to and from the US (d'oh!), but if this means a finished product that requires no further modifications, then I think that it's worth it. I'll chat with him again... I wonder whether he can do something about the shape - particularly the curved corners? Ideally, we'd want these squared off, but I guess we'll see. |

heres a small write up with a picture by mantianak from .org
Using the cheap nasty one made by autoleads (the one where the din hole is offset to the left), cut a double din sized hole centre after measuring up. A double din unit protrudes at the top of the facia beacause the facia is curved. I had to use an epoxy putty to reshape the facia (this also covered the hole left bythe offset area) so it has a smooth look and not a protruding top. Finally spray paint it matt black. The only thing left to do is to use a protective spray (you can see a few scratches already). If anybody tries to do the same I recomend using a dremell like tool. Using a small sand circle attachment, it not just cuts, but melts easily and precisely through the plastic and is easy to use. |

Those same ones currently on eBay for under 11 quid? Good effort! But I can see what you mean by the scratching. Would drive me mad. But definitely a useful saving!!!
