Question best heavy duty battery for r75 i.8t

Hi everyone. My car seems to have a battery that looks to small, it doesn't fill the whole box. what is the the most amperage battery I can fit to my R75 1.8t? I will have to leave it in an airport c/park for 2wks in sept & I don't want to come back to a flat battery, the most time I have not used the car for is 4days with no problems,so I thought I'd make sure the battery is good, I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me. Regards. Mel.

The standard battery does look small in that it doesn't fill the battery compartment. Some fit the battery for the diesel which is bigger but no idea what the amperage is.

This is the biggest battery that fits in a standard 75 / ZT battery box.

It's huge!

Not if you want to put the battery box lid on and use the clamp to secure it. I would not want my battery only held with the cables. imho the 096 size is most suitable as it fills the box the clamp & strap fit with the lid on. on!! The MOT also states the battery must be secured.

Remember MG & 75 battery is secured with a strap and a metal bolt down base clamp imho they are fitted for a reason. Both can be used with the heavy duty 096 size battery.

Hi

I needed a new battery for my 75, allbeit a diesel a couple of months ago & got one from a company called JagLand uk on e-bay It fills the battery box but with a small mod you can fit the strap if you really want to. It has i think, from memory 80amhr & is way over the cold start figure required.

Been brilliant, feels like it would spin the whole car through 360 & was only around £50 + p&p with a 3yr warranty admitidly i collected mine as there only 30mins from me but great thing none the less

Hope this helps

Regards

Paul

You bought the wrong size so not securely clamped but with the same capacity as the 096 size which is the correct part which can be securely clamped down, why

Size doesn't matter. Old batteries lose charge faster than new ones. If yours is over five years old, maybe replacing it with a new one will give better assurance. The Bosch range is good.

I got a 100 Battery in mine, ( http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Al...1001&0&cc5_996 ) perfect fit, including the strap, with a height of 175mm. I find the 096 at 190mm in height too high and the lid doesn't clip on properly..... (If you have a lid that is)..

Have modded the strap & clamp so it is securely down MOT tester was happy with it & it was where i was when i needed it quickly. Some times we do what we have to do when we have to do it. Not ideal i know but it is fine.
