Default New head unit fitted, BUT

Just ditched my cassette / cd changer for a more up to date unitThe thing is, if I have the ignition turned off for a few minutes, and turn it on the radio comes on fine but if the ignition is off for more than say 15 minutes, and I turn it on, I have to manually turn on the radio and re enter the code.Quite annoying,Any idea's

Looks like it needs a permanent live feed ?

That's what I thought too,Complete loss of power supply........I bought the lead from Halfords this morning, which plugs into the back of the head unit, and into the wiring harness perfectly.What else can I do,

you need to check that the power feed is getting to the radios memory wire .
possible the 2 power cables are the wrong way round in this new lead ?.

Usually aftermarket head units have a red and yellow power cable that have bullet connectors that allow you to swap them over.
Disconnect them and cross the wires over, i.e red to yellow and vice versa.
That should solve your problem

The grey ISO plug

Pin 4 Purple/Pink permanent 12v

Pin 7 Light Green/White ignition feed.

Check that these connections are correct.

If this does not cure the fault then the internal battery is faulty.

If it's losing the radio presets when the keys are out of the ignition and the yellow and red power cables have bullet connections as mentioned just swap them round.
That will solve the problem straight away

I thought the loss of station memory was an ongoing issues on these IOVOX head units and why Rover changed them to VDO units in facelift cars.
