To get the rivets to grip stop spinning use a small long thin punch and punch North South East & West round the lip of the rivet, this will bite into the bodywork behind and should hold it tight for you to remove the screw and also to re-fix, when re-fixing if you still use the rivets use number plate plastic bolts they will never get stuck again

Absolutely brilliant mod/repair!!
I ordered a repair kit from eBay and will modify the units according to your instructions. I am sure my rear lights will be better fitted and what's more.. I will be able to replace a bulb on the fly (in case I get stopped by local law enforcement when a bulb accidently gets broken en route). Kudos!!

Not entirely sure but you could start using another browser to see if it is browser related or other. Pictures are hosted on Tinypic so not the issues most threads have with pictures hosted by Photobucket. If you are behind a firewall try to disable it temporarily. If you are using PiHole or any other DNS based ad-blocker try to whitelist the tinypic domain. [/off topic] Have ordered the upgrade kit by (Dizzy) Bizzy Lizzy yesterday and been trying to remove the bolt/screw on the bottom of the left hand side rear light. No joy so far. I sprayed the bolt/screw and rivet with lubricating oil (No WD40!) yesterday and tried to unloosen the bolt today by hitting it (gently) with a hammer (see sig ). Generously sprayed the bolt again today and will let it soak overnight. Let's hope the bolt/screw will come loose the so I can proceed with this mod.

Tourer Rear Lights
I now use these for the light fixings which replace the "rivnuts" they are the plastic screw heads which hold on the sound proofing on the diesel engine bulk head.
