Already running 4.3 on my HTC One.. I prefer the added value of a branded phone to the rather dull Nexus experience.
Updates arent that important now though. Google have separated Google Services from the OS, so OS updates are little more than refinements to the UI.

I got annoyed with the bloatware that would eventually slow the phone down overtime and I never used it so decided to go for the pure android experience

Never had that problem to be honest. Usage slows down Android because before 4.3 it didnt have TRIM. Now it does its irrelevant.

Tried the Google experience Rom but it was too plain for me. I hide a lot of sense because I use nova launcher, but the Google Rom misses out on the camera software, and without that software it's just a rubbish 4 mp camera.

I have the HTC One S and they are debating whether to bring any more updates out for it :-( so I think ice cream sandwich will be my lot.

To be honest from 4.0 upwards there isnt much difference. Google separated Google Services from the OS so all the core functionality of the Google apps no longer needs an OS update to be updated.
Besides there is alway XDA developers, they can get most phones updated.
