Hope the outcome is a good one, but even if it is not don't panic.

when I first applied for DLA I was refused everything, I appealed and it was change to full rate care and full rate mobility. A massive jump from nothing, they often say no on the hope that you do not appeal and they are in pocket (thats the way this government treats the disabled)
