Default bonnet shut

Not quite the same problem. I put the keys down inside the bonnet as I was filling the radiator and shut the bonnet with said keys inside. The bonnet caught the keys and locked the ****** car.

I need to open the bonnet to get my keys to open the car

Please help!!!

I'll try taking the grill off and replacing 2moro and see if that sorts out the catch.

When i had this problem I found that a spring had dissappeared from the mechanism. There should be two of them, one on the right hand side had gone. I got a new one from a release mechanism from a scrappy and fitted it with a spring hook and now the catch pops through the grill again as normal.

I have the same problem on my newly purchased (2002) Rover 75. Inside bonnet release handle 'floppy' and won't engage to release the external safety catch lever so I can open the bonnet.

Please add my name to the list of PM requests - thanks.

PS - great to have a forum for these problems.
Get at the Handle bracket and devise a method of placing a spacer to take up some slack. When open grease the lock sockets and plungers.

Default Bonnet Stuck

Help......!

Newbie with a 2004 facelift 1.8T with a stuck bonnet anyone know how to get in?

Started attending to the common faults, cleaned my plenum drains and the 3” of water that had gathered there.

Planned a weekend of other jobs (weather permitting) replacing my soggy pollen filter, front end off to fit new fan resistor and high tone horn, bonnet cable and spyhole mod to attend to etc.

Intended to dose the bumper bolts with penetrating oil to make life easier for the weekend but of course now the inevitable happened and the bonnet release handle appears to of detached.

Anyone got ideas on how to gain access now?

Many thanks

I took off the trim near the inside pull lever and got at the cable bracket and devised a spacer to tighten the cable, difficult to explain but you should figure out how to shorten the pull on the Cable.

There is a way of getting the bonnet open, providing the cables are still attached to the catch under the bonnet. The procedure is shown on the other forum.
They wont tell everyone the procedure for obvious reasons, you may need to be a member of the forum.

Its a little tricky , i had to do it, need small hands!!

Steve.

p.s. the mods on here can also let you know!!
