Just to say I am afraid the price is not good....

For a pair of customised, refurbished lights it's freaking amazing compared to the cost of 1 unit on Rimmers...

Surely this development indicates that LEDs aren't as energy saving (per lumen) as they initially promised to be? LEDs that need cooling fans must be consuming and wasting at lot of power. Are the latest LED headlamps fan cooled too?

For use on canbus the resistors create a lot of heat.

That's basically what I mean, though CANbus resistors don't need to consume anywhere near the power of the bulb they're spoofing. And as LEDs go up in power to match the performance of HIDs, they don't offer the 'green' advantage they once promised.

Thank you for all the comments following my question in Post #23 of this thread. It was the yellow sticker saying "Xenons fitted" that was confusing me, but now we know that for some reason some cars have this sticker on when in fact they have ordinary reflector/halogen lights, which is what mine has.

So went to Halfords and bought a pair of H7 bulbs. In spite of Jackg's comment at Post #25, I was seduced into buying the "Super Brilliance, 50% more light, 'xenon' technology" bulbs which were on a 2-for-1 offer at £19.99. They do look brighter, but time will tell how long they last.

Never done this before, so fitting was a bit fiddly via the access panels in the wheel arch liners. Took ages, but my hands are quite small and managed to do it eventually.

Only when everything was done and put back together did I discover that onthe passenger side I had in fact reinstalled the old bulb instead of the new one!!! Which was pretty stupid. But because I now knew excatly what to look/feel for, I had it re-done in about 5 mins!

During the process I also discovered that:
a) my passenger side wheel arch access panel is actually a piece of thin plastic cut to size and held in place by some tape and one small screw, and
b) my Shannon Tube has disintegrated.

So that's two more jobs to do some time soon!
Three years on. Have those Halfords bulbs lasted the course ???
