Today....she's been at the local garage for an overheating rear wheel, came out with new disks and pads (£245! quoted) - bonus items: loose gear knob and small dink in rear door...

Apparently I was mis-quoted for brakes - £164 was the final price...

How do they pull the gear knob off doing the brakes! And how did they not notice while moving the car!!

I got the shock of my life when I pulled it into reverse and it came off in my hand Some gear knobs aren't as tight as they should be apparently.
That was on Mo btw.

I've tried removing it in the past when looking at replacing it and it was stuck solid....no idea what they were doing to manage it, but there appears to be more wear on it than there was when it went in...

Finally got the car back from the welders so fingers crossed for MOT next week. Also, having had the dreaded driver's side headlight motor no working, finally found that the wire was indeed worn through off the bulkhead join. Thought it might be the motor but tried it on other side and all was ok. So, fixed 1 broken wire, taped whole bunch up and put some tubing (from old kettle flex, split open) onto the seam to prevent further problems. All working great now!

Enjoyed the drive from Suffolk to Lincolnshire, the sun was shining, good music playing, even the odd traffic jam didn't worry me (The joys of an auto)

Picked up my roof rails from the powder-coaters.....

Now resplendent in silver.
Happy with the look, extremely disappointed with the quality of I'm honest.
I guess it's what happens when you get someone who basically just does commercial work
