Well as I was confined to barracks, and unable to travel to the Ripon classic car show today, due to Mrs MB crocking her ankle and big toe slipping on rocks yesterday evening at the beach while out walking the dog, I decided to do something different for a change.........working on one of my own fleet

After refurbishing the rear hub bearings earlier in the week it had become apparent the NSF wheel bearing had a little grumble, not severe, but enough to upset the quietude of the ride.

So after taking the dog out for his three mile constitutional this morning, I decided the opportunity of the glorious weather was far to good to waste on non car related stuff

So began a careful stripdown of the NSF hub, no burst knuckles or damaged bolts were to be found, and soon after I had the swivel hub ready for surgery.

New hub bearing duly fitted, I began the rebuild, taking care not to damage any rubber boots, and some preventative stuff such as clean up and derusting of brake components, and reassembly in a relaxed unhurried fashion.

After three and a half hours, all that was left to do was clean up and take Frosty for a spin.

The result........shhh you'll wake up the driver

It's amazing how something so simple can make so much difference

Sounds daft Keith, you don't have a stone of some other foreign object wedged in the tread of a tyre?

If that fails, ear defenders, or trick SWMBO into travelling in the boot to check for leaks

Pair of new rear springs. Turns out the twang I heard in the week was the nearside spring deciding that being in 3 bits was better than 2.

Finally got round to fitting the drivers side bottom arm bush - I changed the passenger side a few weeks ago but never got round to the drivers side.

Then gave it an oil and filter change.

Default New car to fettle now

On my new car -
After yesterdays shampoo wash, I tried to get the pollen filter out to clean it up before getting round to replacing with a clean one. In the end I couldn't get the wiper arms off, so couldn't take the scuttle panel off so couldn't unclip the ECU so couldn't get to the pollen filter.
Sigh... if only things were a bit more easy.
Used G3 scratch remover on the drivers door and headlights. Not as good as 3M but enough of an improvement to make me happy

You don't need to remove the wipers or the full scuttle panel to get into the pollen filter mate. Pull away the rubber seal at the passenger side, unscrew the single screw at the front of the plenum cover, pop the first three scuttle panel clips out (being careful they don't fire away never to be seen again!), then lift the scuttle panel s bit and slide out the plenum cover. There you are, access to Ecu and pollen filter!

The way I've written it makes sense to me, hope it does for you.

I did that bit but couldn't see the top clip for the ecu that the Haynes manual talks about
