Mine are also fitted and look supurb, although I'm still waiting for the silicone to fully cure.

If I was fitting them again, I would go for a combination of tape and then a bead of silicone around the edge to seal them.

I spent quite some time having to check and slide them back to their proper locations until the silicone started to cure, the instant grab of the tape to hold them in position would have helped a lot.

AHA - a small fillet of silicon would finish them off I think.

I'll need to get another tube though as I suspect the nozzle size would be minute for a tidy post-installation seal.

Unless you are a COMPLETE stranger to the concept of "cack-handedness" please can I implore you to think very carefully before going the silicon route.

I speak as someone whose driver's door, door handle, window, fingers, shirt and finisher were ALL covered in the thrice bedamned stuff

My own opinion of course, but unless you are completely confident in your own abilities....

Let's just say it took me a solid hour of cleaning and the sufferance of SWMBO's displeasure before I was in a position to start again

Something I found to be useful was to lock the doors first. This enabled me to pull the door handle outwards to its fullest extent and wedge it with a small block of wood without the door popping open and was a great aid to aligning the finishers and getting them into location without the tape instantly catching.

Now they are fitted, I'm as pleased as a dog with more than the standard issue of tails

Cheers Dave - a great project. Thanks again for your tenacity.
Sorry 'bout that
I think you need to be careful to only apply a small bead around the outside. The other beads should not push out a lot but again don't overdo the bead size.
The silicone I used held the finisher in place perfectly while the silicone went off. Other silicones may be a little more runny and in that case your idea of locking the doors and pulling the handle out will work well.
My original (highly technical !) solution was to use a ball of newspaper and let the handle spring back on to it thereby holding the finisher.
Many thanks for posting pics so promptly. See Les is on the ball again, don't know what I'd do without him.

Nothing whatsoever to be sorry for Dave. You cannot possibly legislate for the cack-handedness indigenous to my species

Mind you - it doesn't help that I still haven't regained the use of my right hand fully since the accident over a year ago

The finishers look absolutely fantastic, Paul.

Well done again to Crofts for seeing this project through.

Here is the tape that I got off eBay for the job: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...B%2B%26fvi%3D1
