Right I have just had confirmation from my Brothers Database at his Garage (thanks Bruv) that the ZS V6 2.5 180BHP does have much lower emissions 227g/km than that of the same lump in the ZT.
This is mainly due to the Auto Gearbox and other ECU differences. Hope that helps you Dave. |

I can see how the addition of a turbo would cause the gearbox to go into shock but in this case I am thinking all the mechanics are the same, all the electronics are the same?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the g/km will differ from an identical engine run in 2 different body shells. It stands to reason the ZS has the lower of the 2 emissions. The engine doesn't have to work as hard to get to a given speed in the lighter body shell. Put another way the lighter bodyshell (ZS) will need a lighter throttle opening to get to a given speed hence less fuel & lower g/km than the heavier ZT Also the aero dynamics come into it . Think what the emissions would be with the brakes on at say 50 MPH with a full throttle setting

This is correct however you wouldn't see a difference if they are tested at standstill as in an MOT as neither car is moving.

Agreed Steven & the MOT emission test is only interested in CO % Volume
So the g/km figure is a different criteria measured over a travelled distance. Maybe Dave could incorrectly convince the DVLA to charge him less Road Tax due to the lower emission ZS engine he's going to fit!
