Sorry to bump this, but did you get it working or not?
You didn't need a new amp at all - i've tried reading this thread but i'm not quite sure I understand it all. All the HK amp does is take the speaker outputs from the headunit (plus 2x power and an on / off signal), and then send the signal to the speakers - the amp sits between the headunit output and the speakers, you don't need to use phono cables at all - you could simply replace the headunit, and keep the amp between the speakers - as long as you still had the power & on/off signal going in, and the speaker output it would work fine. |
