Yes running nice and cool. Been driving the car since the remap and it's like a different car gear changes much smoother too. And on the motorway well.......

Now the old ankle is well on the mend got out and gave the typhoon a good old polish today , loads of small tar spots on the lower half of the car which were a pain to get off but off they came , now if I say so myself it looks stunning just need the wheels refurbed .....

Light spray of WD40 makes easy work of tar spots.

ATF and oil change today, plus pasted/taped up a hole in the exhaust.

Then treated the motor to a wash.

Did the demist test again and it worked fine. Then took the car for a run and the coolant temperature was 88° to 89° while driving. It rose to 94° while sitting in traffic then came back down to 90° again. A big improvement on what it was before.

After the engine had cooled down the coolant level was checked and was where it was supposed to be. While the cap was off new Viton O ring seals were fitted.

A nice cold beer now. Ahhhhhhhh!

I took a trip over the border for a nice lunch at Houghton Hall garden centre then back to Gretna for a quick tidy up for tomorrow's meet.

I finally got those trailing wires for the dash cam re routed through the interior light aperture and down the pillar. It's so much neater and no ugly cables all over the place.

Thought I would adjust the handbrake, and checked out the wheel arches below the guards. A bit of surface rust here and there, bit untidy so, a little tidy up.

whilst the calipers were off, cleaned out the threads, red greased up the slider pins and painted the hubs.

As it was a lovely day I thought it was about time I tackled my cloudy headlights. I had previously had a go with some metal polish, however this was too fine and a much coarser abrasive was needed to remove the oxidised (is that the correct term?) layer on the surface of the lens. I purchased a 3M restoration kit from fleabay for under £20 and waited for a nice day...

The kit comes with a roll of masking tape to protect the bodywork, however I removed the bumper to allow me to follow the contour of the convex section for the main beam. I didn't realise quite how quick the bumper removal is!

It took around 30 minutes to do each light, as it was the first time I had done this I didn't want to rush it and muck it up!

Needless to say I am very pleased with the result, I have heard that it is a good idea to use a plastic sealer to help prevent further clouding so I will have to track some down.

In total the job took less than 2 hours, helped by a can of cold cider and topped up my tan at the same time! I haven't posted a final picture with the bumper back on as she's filthy and it wouldn't do her justice to do so before I have given her a good clean!

Just had to say that's a fantastic job you have done there Alan, I wish the exterior of my car looked as good as the underside of yours! It is obvious the love and care you lavish on your motor, well done!
